Alicia Ruiz-Caridad obtained her bachelor’s degree in physics (2015) and her Master’s degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the University of Barcelona in 2016. In 2021, she successfully completed her PhD at the University of Paris-Saclay in France, focusing her thesis on the development of a new material approach for photonic devices through the integration of rare-earth-doped crystalline oxides on silicon platforms.

In 2021, she began her career as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center of Electron Microscopy at Empa, part of ETH domain in Switzerland. She continued her postdoctoral work at the University of Basel in Switzerland in 2022. In 2024, she joined IREC and has been awarded with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellowship in the field of optoionics.
